COMPENSATION FOR LOCAL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

 

EXECUTIVE

LOCAL PRESIDENT

The President shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums, as agreed to between the Local and Royal University Hospital. 

A. SALARY

  1. The Local President shall be paid at the top step (Step 5) of Nurse C of the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked up to full time equivalent hours. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the President directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

  1. The President shall be a full-time paid position. The President shall work 8-hour shifts in accordance with the current Collective Agreement. These hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs; including local / management meetings.
  1. The President shall not work a Statutory Holidays except in extenuating circumstances.
  1. Meal and rest breaks will be taken in accordance with the current SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement.
  1. The President shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local Treasurer no later than the 7th day of each month.

C. BENEFITS – DIRECT UNION PAYMENT

  1. The President shall accrue vacation and benefits at the accrual rate they are entitled to as an employee of the hospital.
  1. Statutory Holiday pay shall be calculated and paid according to the current SUN / SAHO Collective Agreement.
  1. CPP and EI premiums shall be deducted from any salary paid by the Local. The employer’s share shall be paid by the Local. The Local shall pay the Worker’s Compensation Board premiums.

D. UNION DUES

The President shall pay Local and Provincial SUN dues, assessments, or fines.

E. EXPENSES

The President will be paid for reasonable travel and out of pocket expenses. Travel expenses will be paid in accordance with the SUN / SAHO Collective Agreement

F. LEAVES OF ABSENCE

Shall be granted as per SUN / SAHO Collective Agreement.

G. VACATION

All full time Local Executive positions shall endeavour to meet prior to the Feb 1st deadline for vacation to ensure a fair and equitable vacation schedule. Once established, it will be communicated to the treasurer and the employer.

LOCAL FIRST VICE- PRESIDENT

The First Vice-President shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums, as agreed to between the Local and Royal University Hospital.

A. SALARY

  1. The Local First Vice-President shall be paid at the Step 4.5 of Nurse C of the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked up to full time equivalent hours. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the First Vice-President directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

Return to Work (RTW) and Accommodations Chairperson

The Return to Work and Accommodations Chairperson shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums, as agreed to between the Local and Royal University Hospital. 

A. SALARY

  1. The Local NAC Chair shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage of the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the NAC Chair directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

  1. All hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs; including local / NAC meetings.
  1. The NAC Chair shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local Treasurer no later than the 7th day of each month.

LOCAL Public Relations & Education (PR & Ed) Chairperson

The PR & Ed Chair shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums

A. SALARY

  1. The Local PR & Education Chair shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage in the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the PR & Ed Chair directly by the Local.

  1. All hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs.
  1. The PR & Ed Chair shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local Treasurer no later than the 7th day of each month.

LOCAL Nursing Advisory Committee (NAC) CHAIRPERSON

The NAC Chair shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums, as agreed to between the Local and Royal University Hospital. 

A. SALARY

  1. The Local NAC Chair shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage of the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  2. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the NAC Chair directly by the Local.

LOCAL Occupational Health & Safety (OH & S) Chairperson

The OH & S Chair shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums. 

A. SALARY

  1. The Local OH & S Chair shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage in the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the OH & S Chair directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

  1. All hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs.
  1. The OH & S Chair shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local Treasurer no later than the 7th day of each month.

LOCAL Treasurer

The Local Treasurer shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums.

A. SALARY

  1. The Local Treasurer shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage in the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the Treasurer directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

  1. All hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs.
  1. The Treasurer shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local President no later than the 7th day of each month.

LOCAL Secretary

The Local Secretary shall have access to the terms and conditions of the SUN/SAHO Collective Agreement and Memorandums.

A. SALARY

  1. The Local Secretary shall be paid at the top step (Step 6) of Nurse B or current wage in the current Collective Agreement plus long service if applicable.
  1. Salary continuance will be paid by the hospital for hours worked. Hours not paid by the hospital shall be paid to the Secretary directly by the Local.

B. HOURS OF WORK

  1. All hours may be worked on flex basis to prevent overtime. Flexing of hours to be based on membership needs.
  1. The Secretary shall submit an accurate hours of work record to the Office Executive Assistant and the Local Treasurer no later than the 7th day of each month.

TREASURER, NURSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON, OH&S CHAIRPERSON, SECRETARY, FLEX CHAIRPERSON AND PR & EDUCATION CHAIRPERSON

The Treasurer, Nursing Advisory Committee Chairperson, OH&S Chairperson, Secretary, Flex Chairperson and PR & Education Chairperson will maintain their hours within the current years budgeted amount to carry out the duties assigned to their position.

Each Executive member will be compensated up to two (2) hours for attending each monthly executive meeting and up to two (2) hours for attending each monthly Local general meeting.

The Executive can carry over forty (40) hours of banked time from one (1) year to the next and must be used in the first thirty (30) days of the calendar year. Any excess will be paid out before the end of the current calendar year.

REPLACEMENT FOR THE LOCAL PRESIDENT/FIRST VICE- PRESIDENT

Executive designated to replace the Local President/First Vice-President shall be compensated according to the above policies for the President and First Vice-President.

Local Executive and Office Secretary

Base amount will be $250.00 plus $50.00 per year of service to a maximum of $500.00. Minimum service of one (1) year required.

Junior Executive

Base amount will be $100.00 plus $25.00 per year of service to a max of $200.00.     

Minimum service of one (1) year required.
